Red Cross Babysitter's Training Certification Course

COURSE OVERVIEW

The Red Cross Babysitter's Training course is designed to provide young people with the knowledge and skills necessary to care for children and infants safely and responsibly. Participants will learn leadership skills, basic childcare, first aid, and how to start a babysitting business.

 

The course aims to help participants:

  • Develop Leadership Skills: Learn how to lead, manage, and communicate effectively with children.
  • Start a Babysitting Business: Understand how to market and manage a babysitting service.
  • Promote Safety: Learn how to ensure safety for themselves and the children they care for, as well as how to manage challenging behavior.
  • Learn Basic Childcare and First Aid: Gain knowledge of how to care for infants and children, including how to respond to medical emergencies.

 

Target Audience

  • Age Range: Primarily for youths ages 11-15.
  • Younger Participants: Youths under 11 may attend if their parent/guardian deems it appropriate for the child.

 

Course Length

  • Duration: Approximately 6.5-7 hours.
    • This includes time for skills practice, class activities, video segments, and a 30-minute break.

 

Prerequisite

  • None: No prior experience or certifications are required.

 

IMPORTANT CLASS INFORMATION

  • Payment:

    • Prepayment is required to secure your spot.
    • Non-refundable, but rescheduling is available.
  • Rescheduling Policy:
    • Rescheduling Requests: To reschedule at no cost, requests must be made by email no later than 12:00 PM (noon) on the business day before your scheduled course.
    • Late Rescheduling: After the 12:00 PM cutoff, a 50% rescheduling fee will apply for any changes to your registration.
    • Rescheduled Course: The new class must be attended within 6 months of the original course date. Failure to attend within this period will result in the forfeiture of your registration payment. Full payment will be required if you wish to schedule another class. Course Completion:
  • Course Completion:
    • Payment does not guarantee certification.
    • You must attend the full course to be eligible for certification.
    • If you miss part of the course, you will need to retake the course at full cost.
  • Late Arrivals:

    • Students more than 10 minutes late will not be allowed to attend the class.
    • The rescheduling fee applies if you wish to reschedule.
  • No Call / No Show:

    • If you fail to show up for the class and do not contact Healthline within one week of the scheduled course, you will be considered a No Call / No Show.
    • You will be required to pay the full course fee to reschedule.
