Red Cross Babysitter's Training Certification Course

COURSE OVERVIEW

This in-person course prepares youth ages 11-16 to safely and confidently care for children and infants. It includes hands-on activities, videos and discussions to develop essential real-life readiness babysitting skills. The course covers feeding, diapering, picking up and holding children, safety and emergency response. Participants receive a 10-year Babysitter's Training certificate upon completion.

If a student decides to enroll in the optional Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED training (see bottom of page), they must complete the online portion before attending the in-person course. In addition, their class will be extended to approximately 7 hours (4 hours of babysitter training, immediately followed by 3 hours of Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED training and skills).

Target Audience

• Age Range: Primarily for youths ages 11-16
• Younger Participants: Youths under 11 may attend if their parent/guardian deems it appropriate for the child.

Course Length

• Babysitter Training: Approximately 4 hours
  • This includes time for skills practice, class activities, video segments, and breaks

• Babysitter Training with Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED Blended Learning: Approximately 7 hours
  • This includes time for skills practice, video segments, lunch, and breaks. 

Prerequisite

• None: No prior experience or certifications are required.

IMPORTANT CLASS INFORMATION

• Payment:

  • Prepayment is required to secure your spot.
  • Non-refundable, but rescheduling is available.

• Rescheduling Policy:
  • Rescheduling Requests: To reschedule at no cost, requests must be made by email no later than 12:00 PM (noon) on the business day before your scheduled course.
  • Late Rescheduling: After the 12:00 PM cutoff, a 50% rescheduling fee will apply for any changes to your registration.
  • Rescheduled Course: The new class must be attended within 6 months of the original course date. Failure to attend within this period will result in the forfeiture of your registration payment. Full payment will be required if you wish to schedule another class. Course Completion:

  • You must attend the full course to be eligible for certification.
  • If you miss part of the course, you will need to retake the course at full cost.

• Late Arrivals:

  • Students more than 10 minutes late will not be allowed to attend the class.
  • The rescheduling fee applies if you wish to reschedule.

• No Call / No Show:

  • If you fail to show up for the class and do not contact Healthline within one week of the scheduled course, you will be considered a No Call / No Show.
  • You will be required to pay the full course fee to reschedule.

Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED Online Learning

The American Red Cross Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED Online Learning must be completed prior to attending the Babysitter Training Course. When registering, student who do not wish to complete the Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED portion of the course must unselect the Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED Online Learning add-on before completing their purhase.
